My question is this: How can I allow the instant-effect potions to apply effect once and then disappear? It such a simple questions but I've spent hours unable to answer it. The instant-effect harming spell instead applied no effect at all. I set it to zero, assuming this would only give it time to apply its effect once. When set to 1, the spell would instantly hurt the player, wait, and then apply its effect again. I first believed this to be a side effect of the "duration" variable which was originally set to 1. This is not the intent of the spell, it is meant to apply the harm potion effect once and disappear. These include Potion of Luck.GetTarget().addPotionEffect(new PotionEffect(effect, 20*duration, power-1), true) My problem is, that the instant-effect potions, such as harm, instead of performing their instant-effect and then going away, stick around and deal damage multiple times.
